Where will you submit your sworn translation in Lanzarote?
You need a sworn translation whenever a document in another language has to be accepted by a public authority, a court or a notary in Spain. These are the offices on the island where sworn translations are submitted most often, and the documents each one usually asks for. Every authority sets its own requirements, so check them on its official website before ordering the translation, especially if an apostille is also required.
Immigration Office (Extranjería) in Lanzarote

UK documents in Lanzarote: apostille and translation after Brexit
If you are a British resident in Lanzarote, bear in mind that since Brexit, public documents from the United Kingdom no longer benefit from Regulation (EU) 2016/1191. To submit them to the Immigration Office, the Civil Registry or a notary on the island, you will usually need the Hague apostille, issued in the UK by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), followed by a sworn translation from English that includes the apostille.
Documents from Ireland are still covered by EU rules, and many of them are exempt from the apostille. If you need the opposite, using a Spanish document in the UK, the apostille is obtained in Spain from a notary, the Ministry of Justice or the court that issued it, depending on the document, and we then produce the sworn translation into English. If in doubt, send us the document before ordering anything and we will tell you what you need.

Three mistakes that delay a sworn translation in Lanzarote
These are the ones we see most often in documents sent from the island. Avoiding them speeds up delivery and saves you paying for a second translation.
Translating a British document before it is apostilled
Since Brexit, UK public documents usually need an apostille to take effect in Spain. If they are translated before being apostilled, the apostille is left untranslated and has to be translated separately later.
How to avoid it: Get the document apostilled in the UK first, then send us the complete original, apostille included.
Forgetting the Spanish apostille when the document is going abroad
If you are going to use a Spanish document in another country, it must first be apostilled in Spain. The translation has to include that apostille, so the order matters.
How to avoid it: Get the apostille before you order the translation, or ask us to arrange it for you.
Photos that are hard to read
If a stamp, a signature or a line cannot be read, the translator has to mark it as illegible or ask you for another copy, and delivery is delayed.
How to avoid it: Take the photo in good light, without flash or glare, or scan the document to PDF with your phone.
Sworn translators in Lanzarote: how to check they are official
Every translation is signed by a sworn translator-interpreter appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation for that language. The translator does not need to be based in Lanzarote: their signature and stamp carry the same official value in every province of Spain.
You can check their appointment in the official search tool for sworn translators and interpreters or on the list published by the Ministry (both in Spanish). When the translation is signed electronically, the PDF shows the details of the translator’s certificate, and most authorities accept it for online procedures.

I am a British resident in Lanzarote. Can you translate my documents from English?
Yes, English is one of the languages we translate most often for island residents. If the document is from the UK, it normally has to be apostilled there before it is translated, because the UK is party to the Hague Convention.
Can you send the paper translation to me in Lanzarote?
